Accessibility Statement
Updated August 1, 2025
starfishcalifornia.com is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive digital experience for all users, including individuals with disabilities. We strive to maintain ongoing efforts to stay in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, with proactive alignment toward WCAG 2.2 and anticipated WCAG 3.0 standards.
Goal
Everyone should use this site with ease. Our target standard is WCAG 2.2 AA. Section 508 guidance informs decisions.
Scope
This statement covers starfishcalifornia.com and content we host here. Linked sites follow their own policies. If a linked service blocks a task, we provide an email alternative.
Program and method
We run a continuous program. We use automated scans and light internal checks. We do not commission third party audits or formal user testing due to our size. We keep dated logs for scans, smoke tests, reports, and fixes.
Automated tools
- SortSite by PowerMapper
- Google Lighthouse
- WAVE by WebAIM
Internal checks
- Keyboard navigation through menus, forms, dialogs, and error states.
A brief screen reader smoke test using VoiceOver on Safari. Headings, links, form labels, focus order, and alerts.
- Zoom to 200 percent to confirm reflow and readability.
Baseline
Current and prior major versions of common desktop browsers. Current iOS and Android on recent phones.
Review cadence
We run scans before major site releases. We run a full site scan each quarter. Each review produces a dated log with findings and actions.
Known limits and exceptions
- Automated scans miss some keyboard traps, focus order issues, and dynamic labels.
- Older PDFs might lack tagging or reading order. Request an accessible version by email.
- Some videos might lack captions or transcripts. Request captions or a transcript by email.
- Third party widgets might include focus or labeling defects. Request an alternative path for the task. We also escalate to the vendor in writing and track status.

Response targets
- Workaround for essential tasks in 10 business days.
- Level A fixes in 30 days, unless a third party blocks the fix.
- If applicable, Level AA fixes in 90 days, unless a third party blocks the fix.
- If a vendor blocks a fix, we keep the email workaround in place and share status updates.
Alternative access rule
If a feature blocks your task, email jenn@starfishcalifornia.com. We complete the task with you by email without extra charge. Covered tasks include browsing content, submitting a form, booking a meeting, and paying an invoice.
